Fact About Plastic

How plastic is destroying our planet?

  • The US and the UK produce more plastic waste per person than any other major country, according to new research.
  • Marine plants are producing 70%of Earth’s oxygen.
  • Over 30% of our CO2 emissions are absorbed by the plants of the ocean.
  • Excessive marine pollution has dramatically helped create over 500 dead zones of total extinction of marine life including marine plants.
  • Statistically, over 32% of all plastics end up littering the environment, from which 40% ends up being binned in the landfalls – 14% and rising has been incinerated and only 14% is intended to be recycled up to 2% only(!!!) which is useful after being recycled.
  • In our oceans: Over 88% of seas surfaces are polluted by plastic – Over 700 species of marine animals are in real danger of extinction due to plastic – More than 90% of all seabirds have plastic in their stoma – Two-thirds of the world’s fish stocks are suffering from plastic ingestion making them starve to death as they feel full and not eating proper food – 170 million tonnes of plastic are circulating in Earths marine environments from which only 1% is floating and 99% sinks to the seafloor.

Shocking Facts

The world produces over 381 million tones of virgin plastic waste yearly – this will double by 2034.

As many as 50% of this is single-use plastic with no chances to be ever recycled or reused.

Only around 9% of this plastic has ever been at least once recycled.

Around 14 million tonnes of this non-biodegradable waste enters our oceans every year.

Over 1 million plastic bags end up in the trash every minute.

Plastic packaging is the biggest culprit of all waste gigantic problem.

Over 50%of UK incinerated waste is suitable for recycling.

32% of all plastics ends up littering the environment and 40% being binned in the landfalls.

Two-thirds of the world’s fish stocks are suffering from plastic ingestion making them starve to death as they feel full and not eating proper food.

Shocking Facts

UK Councils have dramatically different waste strategies & policies making it impossible to create a working Waste Circular Economy and especially a non-biodegradable waste-“Plastic Circular Economy” with similar problems happening all over the world.

Excessive marine pollution has dramatically helped create over 500 dead zones which entails total extinction of marine life including marine plants.

But marine plants are producing 70%of Earth’s oxygen And 30% of our CO2 emissions are absorbed by the plants of the ocean.

Over 88% of seas surfaces are polluted by plastic and over 700 species of marine animals are in real danger of extinction due to plastic.

More than 90% of all seabirds have plastic in their stomach.

170 million tonnes of plastic are circulating in Earth’s marine environments from which only 1% is floating and 99% sinks to the seafloor.

Wake Up Call

Until a fully biodegradable inexpensive material with similar packaging qualities to today’s plastics is invented, we are fully dependent on plastic made from fossil fuel. For the time being we cannot stop it’s production and use so we have to learn to deal with it and re-use it. How can we do this?

By giving a value for plastic waste by turning domestically produced problematic waste into valuable material (PET, HDPE, PP, PE etc -cleaned and sorted by type flakes) highly needed for the “Plastic Recycling Industry” and “Plastic Circular Economy”.

A substantial increase in the recovery of types of plastics suitable for recycling will finally push single-use types of plastics from the market as SUP will be blamed for the main source of pollution. Additional help from local Government legislation will be needed as well.

Wake Up Call

Our Project – “Recycling From Home” means starting and completing the recycling process in our homes and offices. It means that participants will be rewarded for their efforts and the initial investment in equipment will eventually be paid back. Domestic use of recyclable plastics is by far the largest use of this product and eventually it will mean that no more needs to be produced from Petro Chemicals because the a new “Circular Plastic Economy” will be completed and will substantially reduce non-biodegradable waste.
